Dear Families,
Can you believe that October is here and it is Fall? Time sure is flying!! We
are all well into our routines and procedures of 1
    st
    Grade! In 1
    st
    Grade we work
really hard on becoming independent. Please work with your child on learning to
tie their shoes, zip their coats, and learn personal information (ex. birthday, phone
    numbers).
Please Remember to be reading with your child EVERY night, or better yet have
them read to you! Don’t forget to record the book
on the reading log in their
Take Home Folder. Thanks for all your support! Remember we are all a TEAM!
As always if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact us via e-mail or at 554-2350.
    Have a GREAT Week!

    Learning!
    Reading
We are working on reading short vowel
words! We will also be focusing on blending
phonemes. Our stories this month focus on
    apples, pumpkins, and the seasons.
Continue to practice reading at home with
your child. They should be able to read the
Words to Remember in their books.
    Math
We are about ready to begin Unit 3! We will
learn about patterns that use objects, colors
and numbers. We will also continue to
    develop time-telling and money-counting
skills. We will also begin work with addition
    and subtraction. Look for the
    Homelinks
    (these are homework assignments that
correspond to the lesson we discussed
telling for the day) to see what your
    mathematician is learning!
