    Screening and Evaluation Process
    Haysville Public Schools
    Screening:
    Data will be viewed holistically while keeping the suggested benchmark scores in
    mind. These benchmarks are not used as cutoff scores. Twice exceptionality may skew results.
    Level 1: General Education Differentiation by Classroom Teachers
    Level 2: Collected, compiled, and reviewed by the Student Improvement Team
    Level 3: Collected/reviewed by the Student Improvement Team
    Initial Evaluation:
    Information is gathered/assessed by Student Improvement Team
    Information from Level 1, 2, and 3 will be added to the information gathered during Initial
    Evaluation. Student must show evidence of intellectual giftedness in more than one data source.
    The following four questions must be answered:
    1.
    Does the response to general education interventions indicate a need for the intense
    and/or sustained resources provided through a gifted education program?
    2.
    Are the resources suitable for student challenge and progress beyond those available
    through general education?
    3.
    Is there evidence of a severe discrepancy (typically beyond on standard deviation)
    between the student and his/her age peers, or evidence of a severe discrepancy between
    the student’s ability and academic growth potential?
    4.
    Is the presence of giftedness substantiated by convergent data from multiple sources?
    Qualifications:
    Data must be gathered from all the following sources: General education classroom
    interventions, review of records, interviews, and testing and checklist.
    The Student Improvement Team will make the final decision concerning identification for
    gifted education services.
    Following eligibility determination, an Individuated Education Plan will be formulated.
